Event Navigation
On Saturday, June 28, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., the Cherokee Strip Museum will offer a hands-on pottery-making experience with Alysia Rodriguez, the resident instructor from Frankoma Pottery. This unique workshop will be held in the Blacksmith Shop on the museum grounds and open to members and the general public.
The class begins with a fascinating look into the history and nature of clay pottery, highlighting how early Native American communities used Oklahoma’s rich red clay to create distinctive and functional art. Alysia will guide participants through the historical significance and traditional techniques before guiding them through making their pottery pieces.
Each attendee will create a handmade item that will be fired and available for pickup approximately three weeks after the class.
The class is $40 for Cherokee Strip Historical Society and Oklahoma Historical Society members and $50 for non-members.
Space is limited, and early registration is encouraged to ensure participation in this creative and educational event.
